Dear Diary

A Photo Of Me

Which one is me?

Adventures of Sylass, Part 1.

She opened her eyes for the first time, as the blurry colors shifted and shuffled, knew it was her mother. Even though she wasn’t able to see yet, she knew this had to be her mother, she smelled right. Her mother shuffled out the door and Sylass hurried off after her.
The sudden brightness of the sun made her eyes hurt as she came out of the den into the real world. Everything smelled different, and was bigger out here. Blobs of colors in every direction, she struggled to stay behind her mother, who didn’t seem to want to slow down. Her little legs couldn’t keep up and she scooted along on the ground whimpering and calling out to her mother.
She could no longer see her mother, nor could she find her sent, it was there, but it wasn’t. She was lost. She could feel the heat of the sun and hear the buzzing of the flies, she was just so tired, and couldn’t find anything familiar anymore. She stopped for a moment, just a breath.
She opened her eyes to the sound of foot steps. Exhausted and unable to move a single bit, she didn’t realize how many eggs were laid on her by the flies. But what were those foot steps?? Could it be help? Could it be worse? And what were the flies putting all over here?
A tree stood over her, kinda wiggling a bit, like it was inspecting her. When suddenly she saw it bend over and move towards her. The smell of fish overwhelmed her, and she bit down on the soft bark of the tree. It’s bloody sap pooled under her, but it didn’t hurt her, it wiped the bug goop off her. It wrapped her in a soft leaf and put her into a hole on its back to sleep. It hummed, sometimes too loudly as it rocked her to sleep. The noises were frightening at times, then suddenly they stopped. And again she heard foot steps. Then there seemed to be a voice, accompanied with a second.
She couldn’t tell what they were saying but figured she was dinner. She was too tired and hungry to fight, She laid hoping they weren’t discussing all the ways to prepare her. Suddenly there was the fish smell and the branch grabbed her again. She was still in her leaf, but the tree unwrapped her and presented her to another tree. She was begaining to think she wasn’t saved by a tree, and might be in danger of being food, until suddenly she was picked up by the other and brought to her chest. She tucked her between her boosums and she could hear a heart beat. And the beat didn’t seem threatening. She road a long as this female fumbled around in her den and suddenly she was presented with something, it was warm and tasted faintly like milk. She couldnt’ help her self, she drank all she could. Next thing she knew she was as far a sleep as she could be.
Her belly full and body warm, she slowly realized she was safe. And these trees were her new family.
